"Uh, yeah. That's probably a good idea," I said my face turning red.
He walked out the door and i got dressed. When i was done i went back into the bathroom and plugged in the hair dryer. I did my make up and hair and for the first time in days i felt almost normal. When i was completely done i walked out of the room and went to find Xander.

Xander was standing outside of the door staring at a picture on the wall. It was of a small house in the middle of the woods and there was a person looking out from the window. Someone who looked afraid. Xander studied it his fingers trailed the lines feeling the textures. Trying to make something out of it. He turned towards the door when Lyrra stepped out and he smiled at her.
“You look. . . Great.” He said eyeing her. But he looked away quickly to try and not make her uncomfortable.

I ran until I felt like I was going to throw up. I rested on the side of the road and didn’t move. I fell asleep in a field of grass.

"Glad one of us thinks so," i said with a smile.
I walked over and looked at the picture he was looking at. It was kind of wierd. I looked back at Xander. He was so much different then Stephan. He had beautiful brown eyes that didnt change color. He didnt feel the need to kill anyone. And he didnt push me away. This might be a good thing.
"Hey, you really need to teach me how to shield my mind like you do. I think it could be useful."

Xander nodded slightly but then a yawn slipped from his mouth. He stretched and rubbed his eyes.
“How about tomorrow? I’m a bit tired at the moment.”

"I'm holding you to that," I said with a wink.
We walked back into the room and chose beds. They were rock hard but i was grateful for it. My head hit the pillow and everything went black. Then all of a sudden i was standing in the middle of a field. On one side Stephan was standing with his arm out beckoning me toward him. On the other side Xander was standing with a big smile on his face. I was confused and didnt know who to choose.
"I dont know who to pick," I said.
They both got angry looks on their faces. But not towards me, towards eachother. Faster than i could say anything they ran at eachother. Then i woke up.
I was breathing heavy and was drenched in sweat. I got up and started pacing. My dream confused the hell out of me but i knew it was just relaying what my mind was thinking.

Xander awoke as soon as he heard Lyrra’s bed move. He looked up to see her panting and covered in sweat. A look of concern washed over his pale face and he was sitting on her bed trying to get her to look at him.
“Lyrra? What’s wrong?” He said sounding so much like Stephan when he was concerned.
He put his hand to her face brushing hair away from her cheeks.
“Lyrra can you tell me what happened?”

I looked at Xander's concerned face and had a deja vu moment of Stephan doing the same thing. No, you cant think of that. He's not a part of your life anymore.
"No, i dont want to talk about it. Just go back to sleep."
I got up and started pacing back and forth in front of my bed.
"Hey, i'm going to go grab something to eat. Be back in a bit," I said and started walking toward the door.

Xander nodded.
“if you aren’t back within a half an hour I’m going to look for you.” He got up to walk her to the door and stared at her with concern. It kept building.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” He asked opening the door for her. “You know you can tell me anything. I don’t care how awful it is.”

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said and walked out the door.
I walked out the door of the inn and looked around. There was a grocery store down the street. I looked around while i walked to it. There were mostly apartments. I saw a drug store and a delli. Then i got to the grocery store and walked in the doors. It was small but had stuff that i wanted so i looked around. I picked up what i needed, paid and left. I walked back to the inn and back to the room. I set the groceries on the table by the door and went and sat on my bed, wondering what to do next.

Xander looked up to Lyrra from the end of his bed. His eyes were full of tiredness but he was too worried to sleep.
He smirked at her slightly. “Did you get everything you needed?” He asked trying not to push her into telling him what happened.

"Maybe," I said mysteriously.
I walked over to his bed and sat down beside him. He looked worried and exhausted.
"You know you look like you're about to pass out and if you dont go to sleep im gonna make you," I said with a smile.

Xander frowned.
“No, not until I know you’re okay.” He said staring at her no smile on his face.
He didn’t want to leave her awake, not with the kind of dream she had, only two kinds of dreams can leave you panting and sweaty. One is a nightmare the other. . .well.

"Xander, I said i dont want to talk about it. Just let it go," I said sternly.
He was starting to make me mad. Why does he care so much. It's really none of his business. It kind of is his business. He was there my mind told me. I ignored it. I got up from his bed and started pacing the room. He had a right to know but i didnt want him in my head. Last time i let someone in it didnt work out to well. I wasnt ready to start that again so soon. I walked over to my bed and layed down.
"I'm going back to sleep. You should too."

Xander sighed and lay back on his bed. “Sorry, I’m just worried.” He climbed under his covers and looked at her just sort of staring for a few moments.

I turned around and looked at him. It wasnt his fault that i was mad. It was Stephan's. No matter how much i denied it he had hurt me. Bad.
"I'm sorry i'm being like this. You're just being a good friend," I said in a sorrowful voice.
I tried to get some sleep but my brain wouldnt rest. It kept thinking about my dream and about my life. What i should do next or what was going to happen. I let the thoughts go round in my brain but i ignored them.
"Tomorrow we'll leave again and go to Canada. Once there we'll decide what to do."

Xander nodded slightly.
“I’m driving.” He said and left it like that. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.


I woke up to something poking me. I felt the grass on my face and I felt the open wound on my stomach, I was almost too sore to move.
Another poke.
“Do you think he’s dead?” a girl’s voice rang.
“I don’t know, he’s breathing.” A boy answered and I felt another poke to my side.
“He also is bleeding.” The boy said again.
“What? Go get Alex’s mom!” the girl cried.
“Huh? No! My mom will. . .” a second boy cried.
I heard footsteps fade and then another poke. I set my jaw and summoned up all my strength to crawl onto my knees. I opened my eyes to see the blinding sun and there stood a red headed girl with freckles wearing shorts and a tank top. There was a boy with black hair and brown eyes staring at me holding a stick. Their eyes widened in fear as I looked at them.
“Wh- where am i?” I asked my low voice seductive again. The girl looked around sixteen years old and so did the boy.
“Washington.” The girl replied. “Don’t get up, you’re hurt. Ben is getting some help.”
The kid hit the girl in the arm. “Hey! He’s a stranger, who the hell knows where he’s been!” He yelled. The girl rubbed her arm in pain and I felt angry.
“Hey, Man, have you ever heard of chivalry?” I asked trying to move and I just gripped my stomach blood seeping from between my fingers.
I heard footsteps and looked up to see a brown haired mother and another boy holding a stick. “Oh my god!” the mother cried and rested her hand on my shoulder.
“Alex! Go get your father!” she looked back at me with big blue eyes.
“Are you alright?” she asked me and I grunted in pain telling her no.

I woke up the next morning stiff and still tired. I somehow got out of bed and packed up my stuff.
"Hey, time to go sleepy head, get up."
I walked over and shook Xander's shoulder until i saw his eye open a little bit. I walked back over to the door and waited for Xander to get up so we could leave. I gave one last glance around the room glad to be leaving it.

Xander frowned and got out of bed. His brown hair sticking up in some places.
“Do we have to?” He groaned like a little child. But sucked it up and got out of bed.

"Yes... unfortunately," I said before i walked out the door. I went up to the desk and handed the lady back her key and said thank you then walked out to the car. I walked over to my front seat and popped the trunk. I put the bags in the trunk, slammed it shut, got in the passenger side of the car, and waited for Xander to come out.

Xander slowly made his way to the car. He then sat in the driver’s side and waited there for a few seconds.
“Ugh.” He started the car and drove off slowly and then sped up.
“Why did we get up so early?”

The mother and a big bulky Dad helped me up and carried me into their house. My stomach was bleeding insanely bad and I had no clue what had happened before that.
When I woke up a few hours later the Red headed girl was sitting by the bed.
“Oh you’re awake?”
I nodded slightly and ran my hand over my face. “What time is it?”
“it’s 2:15 pm.” She said her pale face turning red at the sound of my voice.
“W-why’d they help me?”
“You would have died.” She said.
I felt fine, no more emotions. Thank god.
“Where’s the boy who poked me with a stick? It hurt.”
“Alex? He’s at home.”
“Where am i?”
“At my house.”
“Why?”
“Because my mom liked you.”
“That’s creepy.”

"We need to get out of the country," I said. "Or i least i do," I added under my breath.
We drove for a while in silence. He was tired and i just didnt feel like talking; i was too caught up in my own thoughts. The main thing going through my mind was if Stephan was alright. I didn't like leaving him like that but he gave me no choice.
I turned and looked at Xander. I really should leave him too. I dont want him getting hurt like everyone else around me seems to.
"Hey, Xander. You should teach me how to shield my mind now."

Xander nodded slightly.
“Uhm well first you focus all your energy on something like a lie. I guess, like everything that you’re thinking is a big lie. Then you clear your thoughts. It’s really hard to master.” He said staring at the road. “Took me years.”

"A lie? ok."
I tried to make myself think that everything was a lie but it wouldnt work.
"You're right. It is hard."
Dammit. Isn't there an easier way? I thought grudgingly.
"I cant do it but ill keep trying," I said.
Then i layed down and tried not to think about anything.

Xander rolled on the roads looking at nothing but the landscape for a few hours. Finally when he couldn't take anymore they arived at the Canadian airport (unrealistic i know)
"Lyrra, we're here."

I looked around the room. It was a small room with blue curtains blue walls and a hardwood floor.
"Where's your mom?"
"She's making you some food, we know about your criminal record, but the truth is my daddy has a record as well. We're all like you."
I ast up in bed ignoring the pain. "What?"
"Yes, Lyrra, she's heading to canada."
"W- why am i here then!" I snapped and the mom came into the room and i imediatly felt calm.
"Hush now, you need to get better then we'll help you find little Lyrra." She spat her name like it was poison. "How she could bring herself to leave you in the middle of the road i'll never know." she looked into the distance for a few seconds. "Stephan is it?"
"Yes Ma'am." i said feeling like an idiot. These people were amazing.

I looked around and saw a big sign that said CANADIAN AIRPORT.
"Why are we at the airport?" I asked.
Where are you taking me? I wondered as i got out of the car. I went to the trunk and got our stuff and walked inside the building.
