opposites attract

Midnight sat in the backseat with Jackal. "So...you got shot, and thought you had died. So how are you here now?" He asked, and Jackal shrugged. "No idea." He sighed, and Steve looked back. "I know i didn't die when i got shot in the head by Scarlet..." He said, and Midnight supressed a laugh. "...So i'm guessing it's the same concept."

Hal sighed, trying to sit up. It proved pretty painful, but he managed it. He looked over at Monica, and gave her a sad smile. "I'm sorry about all this, really..." He said, his eyes glowing at a dim light, illuminating the back of the car nicely. "I suppose i'll have to make it up to you?" He said, and smiled warmer. He felt bad for putting Monica through all this stress.

Monica saw the pain in his face when he sat up and she cringed. She hated seeing him like this. Concern washed over her face. “It’s okay, I’m just glad you aren’t dead, but yes when this is over you owe me big.” She said in the nicest voice she could.

Scarlet looked from Hal to Monica to Bloo. Wishing her and Bloo were like that, but their relationship was too complicated for words.

Bloo was thinking the same thing. At that moment he had a resolution. He'd change that, for the good. His eyes lit up. When this was over, he'd be free to focus all his attention on scarlet.

Hal sighed. "Well, what can i do that could possibly make up for this mess?" he said, sarcastically. For a second, there was peace. So many of his friends, his brothers, had died because of the assassins, but he still had Monica. He still had something to keep fighting for. And Taku and Shadow had died believing the same thing.

A car screeched round the corner, black. BMW. An assassin's car. Scopes looked up in alarm, pulling up his sniper rifle, then paused. "Those aren't assassins...?" He said, then the car stopped. Midnight, Jackal and Steve stepped out of the car, and Jackal walked up to the window where Scarlet was sitting. "How's it going? We're back!" He said, grinning.

Scarlet smiled brightly and got out of the car wrapping her arms around Jackel in a big friendly hug. "God you dick." she said.

Henia climbed out of her car and slammed the door. She had no other reaction but to hold Midnight. It was the only reaction she had after someone she knew well had almost died.

Monica looked at Hal, unsure how he could make it up to her. "I'll get back to you on that, unless someone else has any ideas."
Redd smirked. "I can think of a few things."

Bloo laughed. "You might be blind, but you're definetly looking at some pretty weird shit right now.." He said, grinning. Hal looked round, scowling. "Come on, man! If you're gonna say stuff like that at least do it when Monica's out the room..." He said, sighing. He turned back round to Monica, shaking his head and smiling. "Bloo's never really changed much..." He said, smiling.

Steve looked at Midnight and Hiena, then at Scarlet and Jackal. He paused for a second, then sighed. "Wh...where's my hug?" He asked, looking down. He looked back up, and his eyes widened. Jaxle was standing in front of him, his arms outspread. "Man-Hug, dude, Man-hug." He said, and Steve looked at him, questioningly, then sighed, hugging Jaxle. After a couple of seconds, he stepped back. "I feel kinda better..." He said, after a while. Jaxle laughed, then added "Heheh, if Piper saw that i'd be so-o dead." He said, scratching the back of his head.

Scarlet let go of Jackel and switched over to Steve. "You guys are both indestructible." she said with a laugh.
She froze for a second. "Who the hell is Piper?"

Monica scoffed at Redd and Bloo. "Haha very funny guys."
She then frowned looking back on her and Hal's relationship and she felt very distant form him after hearing that. They’d known each other for more than six-thousand years and they never did much more then peck on the lips. That made her feel like a loser.

Jaxle turned round, facing Scarlet. "What? Uhh..." His mind raced, looking for a decent excuse. "Penpal?" He said, at last then paused. "No, that's not right...hold on a second, I'll think of something." He said, thinking again.

Hal laughed. "Wow. He reminds me of you." He said to Monica, and sighed. "I'll tell you, i've completely wasted the last 6000 years. I feel like a prick." He said, and Bloo sighed. "You know what? Me too..." He said, then quickly added "uhh..about me and Scarlet, of course.

*Serisoulsy i'd stop him after like the first hundred years and would be like. "Jesus christ, can we get to second base already!" Heehee.*

Scarlet looked at Bloo and then Jaxel anad then Hal completely oblivios to what was going on. Her arms still wrapped around Steve in a bone crunching hug. "Wait what?"

Monica looked at Hal with a smile. "You have been waiting too long."

Suddenly, Hal smiled the warmest smile he'd ever shown, and his eyes burned with intensity. "Well, wait's up." He said, and that made his mind up. He'd start treating Monica right. The way she deserved.

Bloo looked over at Scarlet. "Uhh, nothing..." He said, looking away and sighing. He felt like such a sap.

Scarlet set her jaw. She was surprised that Bloo waasn't all over Steve and Jackel for giving her a hug. She hated that, he should be getting all pissed off and protective.

Monica grinned brightly. "Good, it took you six-thousand years, but you finally crawled out of that overly-stuffed chell of yours."

Sadness and confusion crossed Hal's face for a second. "Overly stuffed shell...?" He repeated, then looked up. "I'm not that bad, am i?"

Monica sighed slightly.
"Three kisses Hal. i can count how many times we've kissed on one hand." she helf up three fingers. "We havent even gotten to second base." She said, hating to tell him.

Scarlet growled.
"Steve hug me back. Make it big." she whispered.

Steve looked over in alarm. "Wh..what?" He started, olding his hands up defensivley.

Hal sighed. "Man, i suck at this...why don't you go out and find yourself a nice guy?" He asked, grinning.

Scarlet growled. "Bloo is being a prick. Just give me a hug." She said begging him with her eyes.

Monica shook her head. "I can't do that. I dont like nice guys."

Jaxle watched the sudden change of situation, and felt a tug in his heart. He slowly slipped away, looking for a vehicle.

Steve shrugged, giving Scarlet the best hug he could muster, it wasn't much.

Bloo looked outthe window atthe wrong time, and went cold. He froze on the spot, his eyes widening. He looked at the others. "I...i'm gonna go take a walk..." He said, stepping out the car. He quickly walked away, his eyes welling up. What had he done wrong? How would he put it right?

Eventually, he came to a lake, sitting on the bank. He looked over the water, feeling tears run freely down his face. He knew he was being a bit distant, but now he'd lost Scarlet. The one thing he kept alive for. He stared over the water, filled with nothing but sorrow.

Monica looked from Bloo to Scarlet and sighed. "Oh no. God damnit!" If she could get out of the car she would. But she was wounded too badly.

Scarlet didn't think it'd be that bad for Bloo. She gritted her teeth and pushed away from Steve. She ran off after Bloo.
When she found him she sat next to him and looked at his face with guilt in her eyes. "Bloo, I’m sorry. The hug meant nothing, I was just. . . I needed to know. . ." She couldn't sum up the words. "I hate being so distant. I was hoping if you saw the hug it would shock you into jealousy or make you feel like a prick. But no, I just hurt you." She put her face in her hands feeling like a shallow bitch now. "I've ruined it all haven't I?" She asked holding back tears.

Bloo stared over the water, unmoving. "No, that was me....and you succeded in making me feel like a prick." He said, then put an arm around her shoulder. "If it makes you feel any better, i love you more than words can describe."

Scarlet shook her head.
"I feel like a bitch." She said and then rested her head on his shoulder. "I love you too Bloo. And i miss your Blue hair."

Bloo smiled weakly. "I thought i'd lost you..." He said, staring over the lake. The way it rippled was so peaceful.

Scarlet looked up at him. "No, I’d never do that to you on purpose. Never. I wouldn't be able to, I can't live without you." she stared back at the lake and sighed. "While you were dead, I tried to kill myself. . . I can't remember how many times." She felt a tear slip from the corner of her eye.

Bloo went cold. "you...you what?" He asked, quietly. He understood what Scarlet was getting at now. "I'm so sorry..." He said, his eyes watering up.

Scarlet Wrapped her arms around her.
"I love you so much." She whispered not wanting this to end. She loved where they were right now.

Bloo looked up in surprise, then gently pressed his lips onto hers.
Jaxle finally found a car, hotwiring it. The engine choked in to life. It would do. He began driving back through the city, turning on to the road out of the city.

Hours later, he pulled up outside a small cottage, off the side of the road, stepping out of the side fo the car. He was almost in tears he was so happy to be back.

Scarlet brushed her lips against his, returning the kiss.
She closed her eyes and let everything flow.

Piper sat in the chair staring at the Fire again. The only thing she ever really did was stare at the fire.

Jaxle walked to the front door, opening it silently. The glow from his eyes swept across the floor and up to Piper's face. He smiled, thinking she was asleep in his chair.
